Change the world with food PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to changing the world, there are many ways to do it, but few people consider the impact we make in the food we choose to eat. The global ramifications of creating a $1.00 hamburger and greater than anyone could imagine, and yet we’re willing to turn a blind eye for value.

How we eat and what we choose to buy is our way of voting with our wallet for those things that are important to us. Maybe we want to reduce fuel use in the U.S., then buy locally grown and produced products to reduce the travel time to your market. Maybe we want to reduce pollution to the ground water in rural America, buy organic products wherever possible. Or perhaps we want to protect living beings from pain and suffering, then avoiding animal products is the way to go.

It makes no difference what your personal values include, all that matters is that we make choices that support our values and send a message to those who control the market. A store will carry the items you buy and conversely, they will stop carrying those things you don’t buy. So, you can see, you vote with your wallet.

This episode of TALK IS CHEAP digs into the documentary FOOD INC. and gives and open invitation to all of us to step up and change the world 3 times a day with our food choices. The change could be revolutionary.

More than anything, we believe that the gift of serving is a unique and precious opportunity we have as members of the human race, and yet how often do CARE-GIVERS become CARE-TAKERS? Even as we set ourselves to serving others and giving back to the community and world, we may not be giving to ourselves such that we burn out and ultimately resent the gift we are giving.

This episode of TALK IS CHEAP RADIO really brought the conversation home and asks some important questions.

  • ARE YOU A CARE-GIVER or a CARE-TAKER?
  • WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO DETERMINE THE DIFFERENCE?
  • ARE YOU TENDING TO YOURSELF AS MUCH AS TO OTHERS?
  • HAVE YOU BEEN GIVING FROM AN EMPTY WELL?

You can join the conversation yourself at the TALK IS CHEAP RADIO website and watch this episode. If you feel it would serve people in your life, share it. Get more people into the world of CARE-GIVING.

There are many things to remember about Michael Jackson, the least of which is the controversy of his later years. When the 50 yr/old performer passed away the question of legacy quickly rose to the forefront of the public discourse. And the question beg to be asked, "what will we remember of Michael Jackson."

When TALK IS CHEAP RADIO host Jason Beckett and co-host Malissa Barlow took on the conversation in this week's episode, they brought up some interesting ideas that we could all benefit from.

  • DO WE REMEMBER THE CHOICES OR THE RESULTS?
  • WILL PEOPLE JUDGE OUR 'MISTAKES' WHEN WE'RE GONE?
  • CAN OUR INTENTIONS DRIVE OUR CONTRIBUTION AFTER WE'RE GONE?

This is a conversation for everyone. Go to the TALK IS CHEAP RADIO website and listen. What do you think about your legacy?
